Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 May 2026

These terms govern your use of Remnants. the iOS application, the backend service at remnants.naderhosny.com, and any related software (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Nader Hosny (the "Operator"). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the iOS app and is incorporated here by reference. Where these terms and Apple's EULA conflict, Apple's EULA prevails on Apple-specific matters (installation, App Store rules, in-app purchases).

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum digital-consent age in your country, whichever is higher, to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 you must have your parent or guardian's permission.

2. Your account

Sign-in uses a one-tap email link or Apple Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping the email inbox and the device you signed in on secure. We do not store a password. anyone with access to your inbox can request a new link.

Shadow mode does not create a server account; it is local only.

3. Acceptable content

Remnants is a public-by-default place. Don't drop anything you wouldn't be comfortable with a stranger encountering on a sidewalk. In particular, you may not post content that:

4. Moderation

The Operator may, at its sole discretion and with or without notice, remove any whisper, echo, or capsule and may suspend or delete any account that violates these terms. We rely on user reports and on automated flagging.

To report a remnant, tap and hold it and choose Report, or write to hello@naderhosny.com with the remnant ID. We aim to review reports within 48 hours.

5. License to your content

You retain all rights to the text, voice, and photos you create on Remnants. By dropping a remnant you grant the Operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, transmit, decode, and display that content for the sole purpose of operating the Service . showing it on the map, in the spot view, on your profile, and to recipients within proximity.

We never use your content for advertising or to train AI models.

6. Real-world conduct

Remnants asks you to walk to physical spots. Use common sense. Don't trespass to drop or open a remnant. Don't open a capsule while driving. Don't follow a stranger's whisper into a place that feels unsafe. The Operator is not liable for anything that happens to you while walking to or from a remnant.

7. Location accuracy

GPS is approximate. Walls, weather, and your phone's antenna can put the "exact spot" tens of metres off. The 25-metre unlock radius on time capsules is intentionally generous for this reason; it is not a bug.

8. Service availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or able to recover content that has been deleted. We will give reasonable notice before scheduled downtime.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. That action is described in full in the Privacy Policy. The Operator may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator's total liability to you in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid the Operator in the preceding twelve months (which, for the free tier, is zero), or (b) USD 50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

This limit does not apply where it would be illegal to limit liability. for example, to fraud or to physical injury caused by gross negligence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be announced via an in-app banner on the next launch. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved by good-faith email may be brought in the courts of Cairo, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country requires otherwise.

13. Contact
